You will ensure day to day works and corporate objectives are dealt with effectively, taking proactive steps to keep the business informed of our client's obligations.
Through study and review of our client's responsibilities, you will promote and report on the conservation of heritage structures and the environment, advise on legislative compliance and the correct application of our client's environmental policy, heritage policy and defined standards.
Challenging aspects will involve dealing with colleagues at various locations and levels within the organisation; response to emergencies; liaison with regulators; and enforcing our client's standards and procedures. |

Job Description:
The successful candidate will undertake the full range of surveys for bats and devise and implement appropriate mitigation strategies for bat species.
You will also be involved in undertaking Phase I and Phase II ecological surveys and mitigation implementation throughout the UK.
The role will comprise pre-planning, scheduling and undertaking fieldwork assignments and subsequent technical reporting to a high standard.
You will be required to be a team player and to also use your own initiative in the effective delivery of the National Ecology team's projects.
The ideal candidate will have:
a Natural England bat licence (Countryside Council for Wales bat licence an advantage but not essential);
relevant consultancy experience, proven survey skills and report writing ability;
a minimum of a first degree in Environmental Science (or similar subject) and preferably a master's degree in a related discipline. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered in lieu of qualification;
a professional qualification from IEEM;
excellent communication skills with team members and with clients; and
Extended Phase I Habitat surveys, botanical skills or skills in another protected species group would be advantageous.

Knowledge of statistical analysis, mapping and modelling (e.g. collision risk modelling) techniques is an advantageous. Furthermore you will be competent in the identification of British bird species, by sight and sound and have a track-record of undertaking surveys using standard methodologies, have experience of managing ornithological surveys and those taking them, EIA experience and mitigation design.
