Senior/ Associate in Contaminated Land  Kent

 
 

 

This position is current as of 25th June 2012.

Our client is a medium sized multi-disciplinary Engineering and Environmental Consultancy, specialising in the investigation and assessment of contaminated sites and has a reputation for designing effective solutions for complex sites.

We are currently looking for staff in our client's Kent office. The most pressing requirement is for a senior/associate grade consultant. The role will comprise a combination:

· Technical project work in the assessment of contaminated and brownfield sites for purchase, disposal, planning and Part IIa.

· Design, management and implementation of desk studies and intrusive site investigations.

· Human health and groundwater risk assessments.

· Design of remedial strategies.

· Verification planning and reporting.

· Project management and mentoring junior members of staff.

· Business development.

Candidates should have experience in these areas, with 4 to 6 years in a similar role. Candidates should also have experience of Phase 1 Desk Studies and intrusive investigation, including soil logging to Eurocodes 7/BS5930. Experience of CLEA 1.06, CONSIM or P20 would be advantageous.

Candidates should have at least a degree or equivalent in a numerate science subject. An MSc or Chartered status is preferable. Project management and technical consultancy skills are pre-requisites.

Environmental Consultant  London

 
 

 

This is a new position as of 19 April 2012.

Our client's London office requires a junior consultant with at least 2 years experience of applying liability/contaminated land principles to a range of projects, preferably within an environmental consultancy.
Additionally, you will have, as a minimum, a degree in a relevant subject (BSc) with a Masters Degree in relevant subject preferable.
Experience of writing environmental reports from basic desk studies to Phase 1 level is sought as is experience in site walkovers, assessments of sensitivity (geology, hydrogeology and hydrology), site history (review of historical maps, trade directories), council & regulatory consultations and qualitative risk assessments.

Additionally you will be experienced in working in the field on Phase 2 site investigation comprising capabilities on soil, groundwater and gas monitoring, with associated reporting.
The succesful candidate will be a self-starter, a team player with good inter-personal skills and be of proactive character.
You will have technical knowledge of current and future legislation in relation to UK environmental legislation, policy, guidance and procedures – especially contaminated land and some key operational environmental regulations.

Other pre-requisite abilities include competence in Microsoft Word and Excel, good verbal and written communication skills, both on a technical and commercial level, strong organisational and proven team working skills and demonstrable quality and time management skills.

Some degree of fluency in a european language would be beneficial.

Senior/Principal Consultant - Environmental Due Diligence  London

Our client seeks a Senior/Principal Consultant to be based in their central London office. You should have at least seven years experience of applying environmental liability and contaminated land principles to a range of projects, within a consultancy context and possess proven technical appreciation of current and future UK environmental law and best practice.

You will be responsible for managing multidisciplinary projects, from single sites to portfolios, including, property (asset) due diligence assessments and corporate (M&A) due diligence/compliance audits.
You should have experience of project management (including financial control, team management and reporting), be commercially aware, with demonstrable business development, and client management.
Excellent written and oral communication skills essential, with previous line management experience, including training, mentoring and reviewing technical reports are important.
You will have an earth sciences degree (BSc) and ideally have a Masters Degree (MSC) in a relevant subject.

Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy and provides Health, Safety and Environmental services within the UK and worldwide with a client base across both the private and public sectors.

Their London office requires a Principal Environmental Consultant with at least seven years experience in a geo-environmental role applying contaminated land, risk assessment and liability principles. Ideally this experience will have been gained in a consultancy. You should have experience of project managing a broad range of investigations, including risk assessments, investigation design and management and risk assessments, as well as in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, technical guidance and codes of practice. You should also have strong client management, business development and team management skills and experience.

Senior Remediation Consultant  Manchester

 
 

 

Applications are sought from candidates to join the growing remediation team in our client’s Manchester Office. The role involves working alongside the established contaminated land team on a variety of UK and International environmental and engineering led remediation projects.

Responsibilities will include:

· Scoping, detailed design, implementation and supervision of contaminated land remediation projects (including financial and technical management);

· Occasional assistance with contaminated land site investigations and reporting;

· Assisting the business unit manager with expansion of remediation capabilities in the Manchester office and financial reporting;

· Mentoring of junior staff.

The candidate will have in excess of 5 years experience in brownfield site investigation and remediation project management, ideally with an environmental consultancy or a remediation contractor. The candidate will also have a minimum of a BSc and a second degree (MSc or PhD) in a related subject, such as civil engineering, hydrogeology, geology, environmental science or environmental chemistry, and ideally be Chartered, or working towards Chartership, with a recognised institution.

An interest in, and flair for, business development would be an advantage.

The candidate will be based in the Manchester office, but have a willingness to travel within the UK, and occasionally overseas, a necessary.

It is likely that you will possess a good honours degree in environmental science/chemistry, hydrogeology, or civil engineering. Qualification to MSc level on a relevant course would be an advantage.
