Senior Remediation Consultant  Manchester

 
 

 

Applications are sought from candidates to join the growing remediation team in our client’s Manchester Office. The role involves working alongside the established contaminated land team on a variety of UK and International environmental and engineering led remediation projects.

Responsibilities will include:

· Scoping, detailed design, implementation and supervision of contaminated land remediation projects (including financial and technical management);

· Occasional assistance with contaminated land site investigations and reporting;

· Assisting the business unit manager with expansion of remediation capabilities in the Manchester office and financial reporting;

· Mentoring of junior staff.

The candidate will have in excess of 5 years experience in brownfield site investigation and remediation project management, ideally with an environmental consultancy or a remediation contractor. The candidate will also have a minimum of a BSc and a second degree (MSc or PhD) in a related subject, such as civil engineering, hydrogeology, geology, environmental science or environmental chemistry, and ideally be Chartered, or working towards Chartership, with a recognised institution.

An interest in, and flair for, business development would be an advantage.

The candidate will be based in the Manchester office, but have a willingness to travel within the UK, and occasionally overseas, a necessary.

Senior Contaminated Land Consultant  London

The role will involve undertaking and supervising technical work, responsible for technical quality and budget control, managing less experienced team members, client liaison and preparing proposals for new work and assisting with other marketing activities. Candidates should have extensive experience and knowledge of contaminated land procedures and standards, desk studies, ground investigations, risk assessment, and remediation design, specification and supervision together with excellent knowledge of UK contaminated land and waste management legislation, statutory guidance and its application in site assessment and remediation. This experience is most likely to have been gained within an environmental consultancy, or with a site investigation contractor/laboratory, the Environment Agency, local authority environmental protection department, or remediation contractor. You are also expected to have experience in all or most of the following: Design, specification, supervision and interpretation of contaminated land site investigations, the preparation of interpretive reports for complex sites; performance of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and development of remediation strategies; consultation with regulatory authorities; Phase 1 and Phase 2 due diligence assessments; the selection and application of remediation technologies and preparation of ground conditions chapters of environmental statements. It is likely that you will possess a good honours degree in environmental science/chemistry, hydrogeology, or civil engineering. Qualification to MSc level on a relevant course would be an advantage. Working closely with Project Managers you will be responsible for conducting site work in the area of contaminated site remediation. Your responsibilities will include amongst others: supervising site operations including personnel, sample collection and preparation, liaison with the Project Manager ensuring projects are conducted in adherence to the plan and assisting with the preparation of bids and H&S plans. Candidates should have a diploma in engineering or related discipline together with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. Leading site remediation provider seeks a Project Manager to manage projects and site work and to assist with the further development of its business in the UK. You will be responsible for the delivery of profitable work in the area of contaminated site remediation. This will mean that you will be involved in all stages of a project from meeting potential clients through to ensuring projects are completed on time and to budget. As a minimum candidates should have a BSc in Engineering or similar and will have experience in contaminated land in particular remedial scheme design and on site remediation projects. You will also have a proven track record of delivering remediation work in brownfield redevelopment. Candidates wishing to enter at senior level must have between 5 and 7 years experience and will have good management skills. Those who wish to enter at intermediate level should have between 3 and 5 years experience. You should be well known within the sector and be prepared to travel within the UK from time to time and on occasion overseas. Salary is dependant upon skills and experience.
